Start a session
Every way to open a conversation with Birdie, what you see while it runs, and how it ends.
Ways to start
You can only have one live session at a time.
During a session
- Getting Birdie on the line shows while Birdie joins. When you hear the chime and see Start talking, go ahead.
- Tiles for the records you mention appear on the rail. You can tap the pencil on a tile to change a field by hand.
- The dark conversation panel shows a live transcript of both sides. Tap the chevron to expand or collapse it.
- While Birdie looks something up you see what it is doing, for example "Beak deep in your records".
- Mute stops your mic. Birdie can still finish talking.
- If your signal drops, the top bar shows Reconnecting…. The session waits for you to come back.
You can leave the session screen and do other things. A bar on Home shows Birdie is listening with Return and Stop.
When Birdie is not sure which record you mean
If a name matches more than one record, or sounds like a record you might mean, Birdie shows a Which one? card with numbered options. Say the number or tap a row. The last option, Neither, it's a different one, keeps it as a new record.
If you would rather spell a name, spell it. Birdie takes the letters as the name and remembers that spelling for next time.
Ending a session
- Tap the red End button, or
- Say you are done. Birdie raises anything still open (for example, a promise you made with no task yet), asks if there is anything else, then says goodbye and hangs up. Say "gotta go" to skip the questions.
A session also ends if both sides are silent for 5 minutes, or the app has been in the background for more than 5 minutes.
When it ends you see Wrapping up, then Session saved. Your changes are now on Home, ready to review and push.
Listen in
Listen in sessions ask before stopping: Has your meeting ended? Tap Stop & summarise to have Birdie write up your notes from what it heard, or Keep listening.
